About the project

The nationwide RETURNING (ukr. ПОВЕРНЕННЯ) project is aimed at supporting the mental health of the military, veterans and their families, who have suffered psychological trauma as a result of russian aggression against Ukraine.

The project covers two key areas: the creation of an all-Ukrainian network of mental health centers, where military, veterans and their families will be able to receive free assistance. As well as the introduction of world -class educational programs for mental health professionals - in particular psychiatrists, psychologists and psychotherapists - in order to ensure effective and evidence -based treatment and psychological support.

The founder of the project

War injuries are often invisible, but their impact on people's lives is enormous. Every Ukrainian carries a huge psychological load. But the hardest thing, of course, to those who at the front, who constantly risks their lives, loses his brothers. It is for the sake of their support, that they return to a fulfilling life, we launch this new project. I believe it will be successful. I am confident in the professionalism of our specialists and the stability of our heroes and heroines. Those who are amputated can stand firmly on their feet, because the real power is born in the head. It is mental stability and belief in themselves that allow you to overcome the most difficult tests.

Centers

At the first stage, the opening of at least 25 RETURNING mental helath centers across Ukraine is planned. This will make it possible to receive psychological help closer to home — in a familiar and safe environment. The RETURNING centers will operate on the basis of state medical institutions and will provide free outpatient services. Each center introduces a multidisciplinary approach: teams consist of case managers, psychiatrists, psychologists, psychotherapists, nurses, and social workers. Such a team will ensure holistic, professional support at all stages of treatment and recovery.

Education

Quality mental recovery is possible only with the participation of qualified specialists. That is why, in cooperation with Ukrainian and international experts, modern training programs for specialists in the field of mental health - psychologists, psychiatrists, and psychotherapists are introduced in the framework of the return project. Programs include practical trainings, workshops and supervisions. This gives specialists to work with war injuries and allow patients to receive the highest level support.
