About the project

The nationwide RETURNING (ukr. ПОВЕРНЕННЯ) project is aimed at supporting the mental health of the military, veterans and their families, who have suffered psychological trauma as a result of russian aggression against Ukraine.

The project covers two key areas: the creation of an all-Ukrainian network of mental health centers, where military, veterans and their families will be able to receive free assistance. As well as the introduction of world -class educational programs for mental health professionals - in particular psychiatrists, psychologists and psychotherapists - in order to ensure effective and evidence -based treatment and psychological support.

The founder of the project
Victor Pinchuk
War injuries are often invisible, but their impact on people's lives is enormous. Every Ukrainian carries a huge psychological load. But the hardest thing, of course, to those who at the front, who constantly risks their lives, loses his brothers. It is for the sake of their support, that they return to a fulfilling life, we launch this new project. I believe it will be successful. I am confident in the professionalism of our specialists and the stability of our heroes and heroines. Those who are amputated can stand firmly on their feet, because the real power is born in the head. It is mental stability and belief in themselves that allow you to overcome the most difficult tests.

The longer the war lasts, the more difficult the problems of the mental health of those who go through incredible trials daily. The human psyche has a resource, it is not limitless. Mental health issues are equally important and complex than physical health. They should be treated with maximum attention and respect. It is extremely important that real professionals participate in their decision. Therefore, our task is to create such an all -Ukrainian network, in each of which our heroes and heroines will feel the care of the highest level experts.

Centers

At the first stage, 25 RETURNING mental health centers are planned to open across Ukraine. This will make psychological support more accessible, allowing people to receive care closer to home — in a familiar and safe environment. RETURNING centers will operate within public healthcare institutions and provide free outpatient services. Each center will implement a multidisciplinary approach, with teams consisting of case managers, psychiatrists, psychologists, psychotherapists, nurses, and social workers. This team will provide comprehensive, professional support throughout all stages of treatment and recovery.

Education

High-quality mental recovery is only possible with the involvement of qualified professionals. That is why, in cooperation with Ukrainian and international experts, the RETURNING project implements modern training programs for mental health professionals, including psychologists, psychiatrists, and psychotherapists. The programs include practical training sessions, workshops, and supervision. This provides specialists with effective tools for working with war-related trauma and enables patients to receive support of the highest standard.
